This is normal and does not look "out of place " with the existing trims. You basically clean the dashes areas first, apply the supplied primer and press the pieces in place. Stay just inside the outer edge of where the piece will be applied. We like to use a follow up step with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth for good measure.

Flat dashes are called "flat" because they arrive as flat pieces. Rinse the cloth often and repeat until the stain disappears. A factory match may be a shade or two lighter or darker because wooden grains vary from tree to tree.
